Countryside Access Forum Small Grants Scheme

***** 2009 CLOSING DATES: 16 MARCH, 15 JUNE & 19 OCT*****

THE DOCUMENTS BELOW WILL BE SLIGHTLY REVISED FOR 2009 CLOSING DATES, AND WILL APPEAR HERE BY THE END OF DECEMBER; PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE SPECIFIC QUERIES BEFORE DECEMBER.

This scheme offers up to 50% funding (max grant £2,500) to Parish Councils and landowners towards work to improve access to their local countryside.  It is also open to other organisations, for information-based projects only (leaflets and booklets, etc).

The scheme was established in 2005 as a direct result of demand expressed by Parish Council representatives. Last year alone 20 Parishes received funding towards projects including leaflets, mapboards, benches, kissing gates and path resurfacing projects. We hope the scheme will enable you to respond to local requests for improved access and information, for the benefit of all.

An introduction to the scheme and general funding conditions can be found here.  A wide range of improvements can be funded, but for simplicity, we have provided some ideas:
- Producing Countryside Access Leaflets
- Providing a Countryside Access Board
- Replacing stiles with gates
- Providing benches
- Improving the path surface
- Improving drainage
- Other ideas

For informal advice prior to applying, please feel free to contact:
- Justin Harvey on 01962 847181 or justin.harvey@hants.gov.uk  OR
- Cath Hart on 01962 847221 or cath.hart@hants.gov.uk

To apply, please use the application form and consent form; you will need to supply supporting documents such as photos and sketch maps.  Please take care to fill these forms out thoroughly, as incomplete or poorly-completed forms may not receive funding.  All applications must comply with the general funding conditions given in the introduction.
